Landon and Julian

I covered this through e-mail, but for the Tuzigoot record, I'll note that the C-section delivery of the twins was delayed from the planned May 23 date to May 29.  Tests on the 22nd indicated that their lungs weren't quite to the point required for C-section delivery.  They might have had to spend incubator time if born then. So, we had another six days to count down.

All went as planned.  The boys were born just after 4:00 pm on May 29.

Here are Day 1 postpartum pix that Joey sent us from the delivery room.

Landon weighed 6 lbs., 9 oz.  Julian was 5 lbs. 15 oz.  That's 12 and a half pounds of baby that Heidi was carrying.  They were 19 in. and 18 in., respectively.  Being genetically identical doesn't make them physically identical.  It will be interesting, to say the least, to watch them develop in parallel.

Then, here are a couple of shots through the nursery window.

Wednesday we spent some time at the hospital.  Heidi had had a rough night with the after-effects of the anesthesia.   Susie helped her take a shower.  Joey is doing a great job of fathering and providing TLC to all.

Here are Day 2 pix:

First time we'd seen them awake.

Of course, we got to hold them.

Thursday, we were back at the hospital for another couple of hours of visiting.  The twins had spent the night in the nursery so that gave Heidi and Joey a chance for a night's sleep.  Get 'em while they can.

The boys had had slightly low blood sugar on Wednesday, but after a day of feeding and sleeping, they were fine on Thursday.  Indications are that the family will get to go home on Saturday.  More pictures then.

Cheers,

Grandma and Grandpa
